Our Values

Safety

The safety of volunteers and the public attending events is the top priority.

Volunteer 1st

All volunteers shall feel valued for the time they give to their communities through Solent Repair and Reuse. Solent Repair and Reuse should be operated in the best interests of its volunteers to ensure they remain positive and feel valued.

Good Governance and Operation

Solent Repair and Reuse shall operate to the highest standards, ensuring the minimum risk.

It shall meet all legal obligations and adhere to best practices for a charity. In addition, each project is expected to follow best practices formulated elsewhere for equivalent organisations; for example, a Repair Cafe should follow the standard practices of the UK Repair Cafe community.

Independence

Solent Repair and Reuse shall be politically neutral and unaffiliated with other organisations unless it benefits the mission of Solent Repair and Reuse.

Project Autonomy

The individual projects are the true purpose; these will succeed due to the passion and determination of the volunteers running them. Volunteers will be most passionate about things they can control and own; therefore, each project shall have autonomy unless there is a compelling reason to set a policy for all projects within Solent Repair and Reuse.

Shared Resources

All resources (including financial) shall be shared across Solent Repair and Reuse to ensure they are maximised.
